Daemon Targaryen Never Stopped Asking for Permission

Daemon Targaryen does whatever he wants. That's the brand, that's why we love him, and after three seasons it's the one thing everyone agrees on. I don't think that's what we've been watching. This is the case for the opposite reading: that the freest-looking man in Westeros is the least free one in the story, and that every big thing he does is addressed to a single person who never once said the thing he needed to hear.
