Beautiful Show Gardens at the Melbourne Garden Show 2026
The 2026 Melbourne International Garden Show transformed the Carlton Gardens into a spectacular celebration of landscape design, plants and creativity. Among the many attractions, the show gardens were a true highlight, combining beautiful planting with imaginative design and inspiring ideas for outdoor living.
One of the standout gardens was We the Wild, designed by Matt York of Ratio. Inspired by Victoria’s Southern Coast, the garden brought the feeling of a wild Australian landscape into a contemporary garden setting. Native planting, eucalyptus canopies and dramatic granite boulders created a natural yet carefully considered space. Its combination of beauty, biodiversity and sustainability earned it the City of Melbourne Award of Excellence – Best in Show, as well as Gold and the award for Best Use of Plant Life.
Another beautiful garden was je ne sais quoi by Joel Barnett of InStyle Gardens. Full of personality, the design used sweeping curves, circular lawn areas, recycled brick and layers of native and perennial planting. The result was playful and contemporary while still feeling warm and inviting.
Where We Gather, designed by Emma Doman Design, offered a completely different atmosphere. Inspired by Queensland family life, it created a lush, subtropical retreat with natural materials, rich foliage and a relaxed sense of outdoor luxury. It demonstrated how a garden can become an extension of the home—a place for gathering, relaxing and enjoying nature.
Love Blooms Here by Jason Hodges was another memorable garden, combining sculptural elements, elegant planting and beautiful lighting. The garden became even more special when it provided the setting for two real weddings during the show, adding an emotional and personal dimension to the display.
What made the 2026 show gardens particularly impressive was their ability to tell stories. They were not simply collections of beautiful plants; they explored ideas of nature, sustainability, connection, relaxation and modern Australian living. From wild native landscapes to sophisticated outdoor rooms, each garden offered visitors something different to admire and take home as inspiration.
The 2026 Melbourne Flower & Garden Show proved that a beautiful garden can be both visually spectacular and meaningful—a place where plants, design and nature come together to create spaces that invite people to stop, breathe and enjoy the beauty around them.
