Our Santa Susanna Holiday Nearly Failed! 😱 | UK to Spain by Car

Our September road trip from the UK to Santa Susanna, Spain, almost failed before it even started! 😱🚗🇬🇧➡️🇫🇷➡️🇪🇸 Our Toyota RAV4 had broken down just before the holiday and was still at Vantage Toyota Leeds for repairs. Our Eurotunnel LeShuttle from Folkestone was booked for 4 PM, our hotel in France was waiting for us, and our accommodation in Santa Susanna was already booked — but at 8 AM on departure day, we still had no car! Luckily, just before 8 AM Toyota called to say the RAV4 was finally ready. Igor took a taxi to collect it, we quickly loaded the suitcases and our road trip to Spain could finally begin. In this video we drive from Leeds to Folkestone, stop for fuel and arrive at the Eurotunnel LeShuttle terminal. We show the passenger terminal, Duty Free prices, perfume shopping and what it is like travelling to France by car through the Channel Tunnel. While waiting for the train, we enjoy homemade cutlets, mashed potatoes and salad prepared the night before, then board the Eurotunnel train and cross from England to France. 🇫🇷 For our first night in France we booked The Originals Boutique, La Maison Rouge, Lens Ouest. Before arriving, we stop at French Aldi to look around and buy some local pâté, sausage, snacks, Igor’s favourite sardines in extra virgin olive oil and a bottle of wine. After showing our €97 hotel room, we get ready for dinner at the hotel restaurant. 🍷🍽️ Diana has a three-course dinner for €51, Igor chooses marinated tuna as a starter, and we enjoy a bottle of French red wine. A stressful start turned into a lovely first night in France — and this is only Day 1 of our journey from the UK to Santa Susanna, Spain!
