Porsche Steering Wheel & Airbag - DIY SWAP - 911/Cayman/Boxster/Cayenne/Macan/Panamera

It's really easy to update the look of your Porsche's interior with a new steering wheel. In this video I'm installing a 911 GTS style wheel from a 991.1 into my 958 Cayenne, replacing the factory 'boomerang' tipronic wheel. *SPECIAL NOTES* 1. MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED FOR AT LEAST 20 MINS BEFORE STARTING THIS DIY 2. If you lose your multi-function controls from any new wheel you install, you need to also buy and install a new stalk assembly with the additional stalk on it so you can control the menus in the instrument cluster. No matter what model Porsche you have from around 2006 onwards, the procedure is virtually the same. It's fun for example to see 991.2 steering wheels appearing in the 991.1, 997 or even 996 generation 911s. The cross-compatibility doesn't stop there though, because many steering wheels are also interchangeable across model types: 911s, Boxster/Caymans, Macans, Cayennes and Panameras. There are a few things to look out for in terms of matching up your options (leather color, heated wheels, multi-function buttons, sports chrono functions, etc) but that's for another video. In this video we're just walking through how to safely remove the airbag, swap the wheel and put everything back together again. Note: For my own personal set-up here I sacrificed the multi-function controls for the look and feel of this new steering wheel. But I don’t care for them anyway.
