THE SUPREME COURT JUST REOPENED THE 2027 CANDIDATE BATTLE — WHO IS ACTUALLY AT RISK? The Supreme Court has restored key provisions of Nigeria's Electoral Act 2026 dealing with party membership registers and the nomination of candidates, reversing the earlier Court of Appeal decision that had voided those provisions. But here is the part many headlines are getting wrong: the Supreme Court did not disqualify any individual 2027 candidate. So what does this ruling actually mean? In this video, we break down the ruling in simple terms, explain what Sections 77 and 84 of the Electoral Act actually require, and examine why the judgment could create fresh legal questions around some 2027 nominations. Among the politicians whose nominations have attracted attention are Kingsley Chinda, Ovie Omo-Agege, Isa Pantami, Donald Duke and others. Their situations are not identical, and being mentioned in connection with the judgment does not mean they have been disqualified. The real issue is whether the relevant membership registers, party primaries, waivers, substitutions and nomination processes complied with the law. And that is where the 2027 candidate battle could get interesting. In this video: What the Supreme Court actually decided What Sections 77(5), 77(6), 77(7) and 84(2) mean Why party membership registers matter Why Kingsley Chinda's nomination is attracting scrutiny What the ruling means for Ovie Omo-Agege The separate legal problem involving Isa Pantami Why Donald Duke's nomination is also being questioned The difference between a candidate being at risk and actually being disqualified What documents and legal processes will ultimately determine the outcome Facts before feelings.
