I Checked Mine at the Door” is a post-grunge / rap-rock comedy song built around bad logic, worse timing, and a narrator who keeps insisting everything makes perfect sense right up until it obviously doesn’t. Gerbils appear from nowhere. Beekeeping becomes philosophy. Loose change turns into cinnamon rolls. A train wreck gets worse. Bill Paxton gets remembered for reasons that probably made sense at the time. Underneath all the nonsense is a character trying to explain himself to a universe that keeps moving the finish line. If you’re looking for a deeper meaning, there probably isn’t one. Leave the dots alone. The lines they make aren’t pretty.
