Africa’s push for cleaner, affordable and more sustainable cooking solutions took center stage in New York on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, as the African Clean Cooking Transition (A.C.C.T©) Forum brought together policymakers, energy stakeholders and development partners to advance action on clean cooking across Africa. The discussion highlighted how clean cooking extends beyond household energy — connecting directly to women’s empowerment, health, livelihoods, job creation, investment, climate action and poverty reduction. Key discussions focused on: 🔹 Accelerating access to cleaner cooking technologies across Africa 🔹 The role of LPG in Africa’s clean cooking transition 🔹 Strengthening policies and programmes for clean cooking 🔹 Addressing the disproportionate burden of traditional cooking fuels on women and girls 🔹 Using innovation, investment and partnerships to expand clean cooking access 🔹 Building sustainable models that can reach communities at scale The forum also highlighted country-level experiences from Zambia, Ghana and Nigeria, demonstrating both the challenges and opportunities in accelerating Africa’s clean cooking transition. The A.C.C.T© Forum is part of a broader effort to move from policy and dialogue to implementation, with the full launch scheduled for 15–17 December 2026 in Westminster, London.
