Advances in Cancer Immunotherapy

ABOUT THE TALK Immunotherapy has transformed cancer treatment, yet many patients don't respond to current options like PD-1 blockade. A new active-site phosphatase inhibitor, ABBV-CLS-484, is now in clinical trials (NCT04777994) for advanced solid tumors. This first-in-class immunotherapy shows promise by improving the tumor microenvironment, enhancing NK and CD8 T cell function, and reducing T cell exhaustion, offering a potential new therapeutic strategy. ABOUT THE SPEAKER Christina Baumgartner, PhD, Sr. Principal Research Scientist, Immuno-Oncology Discovery Research group AbbVie, North Chicago, IL, USA. In 2024, Tina received the ASciNA Award in the Junior Principal Investigator category. Tina received her Master’s in Genetics from the University of Vienna and her PhD in Immunology from TU Wien, Austria. She pursued post-doctoral training at Baxter BioScience in Austria and at the Blood Research Institute in Milwaukee, WI. Tina is also a lecturer of Immuno-Oncology at the IMC University of Applied Sciences in Krems, Austria. Tina received her Master’s in Genetics from the University of Vienna and her PhD in Immunology from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria. She pursued post-doctoral training at Baxter BioScience in Austria which included research at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA. She furthered her training at the Blood Research Institute in Milwaukee, WI. Prior to joining AbbVie in 2016, Tina held a Research Scientist position at the Blood Research Institute. Additionally, Tina is a lecturer of Immuno-Oncology at the IMC University of Applied Sciences in Krems, Austria.
