한지 위에 먹과 모래로 시간의 흔적을 쌓아가는 박예림. 김리아갤러리에서 2026년 10월 8일부터 11월 7일까지 열리는 개인전 《Earth Palimpsest》를 소개합니다. 박예림은 먹과 모래를 겹겹이 쌓아 올리는 작업을 통해 물과 불, 동굴의 벽처럼 인류가 오랫동안 마주해 온 풍경과 감각을 전시장 안에 새롭게 펼쳐냅니다. ‘팔림프세스트’는 기존의 글을 지우고 그 위에 새 글을 쓰되, 이전의 흔적이 희미하게 남아 있는 기록을 뜻합니다. 이번 전시는 시간이 지나며 희미해지는 것들이 완전히 사라지지 않고, 흔적과 감각으로 남아 현재에 다시 스며드는 순간을 살펴봅니다. “완전히 지워졌다고 여긴 흔적이 다음 문장 아래에서 희미하게 모습을 드러내듯, 우리가 지나온 시간 역시 사라지기보다 다른 모습으로 남아 현재의 감각에 끊임없이 스며든다.” — 작가노트 중에서 박예림 개인전 《Earth Palimpsest》 2026.10.08–11.07 김리아갤러리 | 서울시 강남구 압구정로75길 5 문의 | 02.517.7713 — Kimreeaa Gallery presents Park Yelim’s solo exhibition Earth Palimpsest, on view from October 8 to November 7, 2026. The exhibition begins with a desire for things that gradually fade with time to remain as traces and sensations, re-emerging in the present. Drawing on primordial landscapes and sensations long experienced by humankind, such as water, fire, and cave walls, Park uses materials including sand, hanji, ink, and light to evoke these elements anew within the exhibition space. The term palimpsest originates from a method of writing in which new text was inscribed over previously written words, leaving traces of the earlier writing beneath the new. Earth Palimpsest extends this structure into the exhibition space, translating the artist’s painterly process of layering ink, sand, and soot into a spatial experience. “Just as traces we thought had been completely erased faintly reappear beneath the next passage, the time we have lived through does not simply disappear.
