Encountering a Lovely View of Lake Biwa | POV Bicycle Touring Shiga and Fukui Japan Part 5

As I progress along Route 25, it gets closer to Biwako until an opportunity came to turn left onto a smaller road that runs even closer along the side of the lake. I had to stop for a moment and enjoy that absolutely amazing view. It's sections like these that really make Biwako a great ride. Many of the miles along the prominent roads tend to be noisy with a fair bit of traffic even during mid-week, mid-day hours. These bits of pavement found right along the banks of the lake are truly special and should not be missed even if it adds a few miles to the overall trip. This is the fifth in a series of videos showing my 3 day self-supported bicycle tour of Shiga and Fukui Japan by way of Lake Biwa. During this tour, I follow along Biwako up to Nagahama then make my way through the mountains to Tsuruga. From there I follow the western coast of Japan down to Obama, then cross back over the mountains through Kumagawa following along the southwest side of Biwako back to Seta. In this series there are a lot of wrong turns, some difficult roads, a few close calls, occasional colorful language, and more than a few monotonous miles. If you want to know what it's like to ride in Japan when you don't know where you're going, can't read, and are completely dependent upon your gps bike computer, this is it. Without question, this was the greatest adventure I've ever had, and I can only hope to be able to do it again one day. Japan is beautiful, the Japanese people are amazing, and it may be the greatest place on earth to ride a bike. I'm working to post a new video each week, so please check back to see what happens next.
