Bonus: The First Black Man to Survive in Space with D. Frie (The Lando Cal Experience)

Ode (@thatsod.e / @thatsod_e) and Mo "Kid" Licorish (@licorishislegit) sit down with D. Frie, the founder of the SOLC Network and host of The Lando Cal Experience, for a Black and Snerdy bonus episode built around Star Wars, hip-hop and anime. D. Frie makes the case for Lando Calrissian as the first Black man to survive in space, points to Yaphet Kotto in Alien as the one who came before, and shares the story that Billy Dee Williams was set to step in for Harrison Ford's Han Solo. He and Mo compare stories of leaving the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender movie, debate the live-action One Piece, and talk JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. He also describes growing up as a comic book kid in Chicago and St. Louis, where Green Lantern issues and Star Wars shirts had their own rules. The conversation turns to the SOLC Network and its shows, including Hip-Hop What Ifs, which asks what happens if Canibus never answers LL Cool J, if Lauryn Hill keeps rapping, if Eminem never meets Dr. Dre, or if Tupac never signs with Death Row. D. Frie speaks plainly about editing, YouTube's changing monetization rules and copyright strikes, and an Ali Siddiq clip about Lil' Kim that took off a year after it was recorded. A Star Wars edition of Emoji Me, Senpai follows, with Chewbacca, Count Dooku, Jar Jar Binks, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Mace Windu, played by Samuel L. Jackson, all in the mix. The closing segments cover Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Again?, the new A Different World series, Mahershala Ali's latest film and its 97 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, and JoJo's Steel Ball Run.
