At seventeen Kofi tried on a pair of boots in Mr Owusu's shop and was caught. He was told “don't come in here again”, and for twelve years he walked round Church Road the long way. Then his car broke down outside the shop. Who kept him off that road, and what did they say to do it? Kofi tells it and Rina holds the tape. You learn that “again” never says how long, what “caught” hides, how “Look at the state of you” can be warm or cold, and why “maybe” and “We must have you round sometime” only work if they carry a day. Take away one phrase to use: “When will you know?” Is there something somebody said once that you made last for years? Tell Rina and Kofi which word you stretched. 00:00 The Road He Avoided 01:33 Was He Really “Caught”? 03:21 How Long Is “Again”? 05:46 “Look at the State of You” 07:40 When Mum Said “Friday, Maybe” 10:16 The Slow Version: A Fortnight 13:14 “We Must Have You Round Sometime” 14:39 A Day Makes the Difference 16:32 Four Words That Moved #LearnEnglish #EnglishListening #BritishEnglish #EnglishVocabulary #SlowReplay
