In this video I show how I added supplementary power feed to the AMD BC-250 board using the proprietary onboard power ports with Molex Micro-Fit 3.0 connectors.
The reason for this modification is simple: when the BC-250 is heavily overclocked, especially with 40 compute units unlocked and CPU overclock applied, the total power consumption can exceed what the standard PCIe 8-pin power connector can safely handle for long periods.
Relying only on the PCIe power connector may create excessive current load through one cable and one connector. This can lead to overheating, melted cables, damaged connectors, voltage drop, instability, or even board damage.
By adding two additional Molex Micro-Fit 3.0 43025-0800 power connectors, the current is shared between the PCIe connector and the proprietary BC-250 power inputs. This helps provide a safer and more stable power delivery for high-performance operation.
Main idea of the mod:
PCIe 8-pin + 2x Molex Micro-Fit 3.0 = better power distribution, less stress on each connector, and safer operation at 300W+ power levels.
This modification is intended for experienced users only. Incorrect wiring, poor crimps, wrong polarity, or insufficient wire gauge can permanently damage the board or power supply. Always check pinout, polarity, wire rating, and connector quality before applying power.
