This new music video "Sister Power" was created on Waiben/ Thursday Island with the Tagai Girls as part of the Torres Health - Breathe Stronger, Breathe Longer campaign. In collaboration with Torres Health Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) , Grand Trine Creative, Tagai Schools - Waiben, Creative Minds and the ANU Wardliparingga: Tobacco Free Program through using music, storytelling and community-led creativity to support tobacco and vape prevention across the Torres Strait. The project brings together the powerful voices of the Tagai Girls, supported and led by local musical feature artists Dani Williams to share an important message for young people, families and community across the Torres Strait. Through music, movement, culture and island pride, “Sister Power” celebrates the next generation of Torres Strait girls and young women standing strong for better health choices, smoke-free and vape-free spaces, and a future where our kids, families and communities can breathe stronger and live longer. From Quarantine Ramp to Sadies Beach, Green Hill, Rose Hill Ramp, the wharf, basketball courts and the back tracks, the Tagai Girls rap with island pride and speak straight facts: smoking and vaping can damage your health, affect your heart, take your breath, impact your family and lead to addiction.
