There are simply too few videos that show how to make music with the Proton.
While there are plenty of brief sound checks and explanations covering the knobs, filters, and individual components, there is nothing that goes beyond that to show the Proton in action.
So, it’s time for another video showing the Proton in use.
Setup:
~~~~
The SQ-64’s Channel A pitch output is routed to OSC1, and Channel B to OSC2.
This means the two VCOs are fed independent note values.
The output of OSC1 is routed to the VCF1 input, and OSC2 to VCF2. Each VCO thus has its own dedicated VCF, with the mix controlled via the FLT MIX parameter.
The Channel B gate signal is routed (via a MULTIN) to both ADSR1 and ADSR2, controlling both the VCFs and the VCA.
Consequently, OSC1 is only audible when a note is set on Channel B—yet it uses the pitch value from Channel A.
However, the VCA is held open across a step due to the relatively long release time of ENV2. The reason no sound is heard from OSC1 during this interval is that the filter remains closed.
The filter can also be opened outside of a step by using the MOD signal; this is achieved by turning up the MOD DEPTH1 control. When this is done, the notes in Sequence A (where every step is assigned a note) can be heard in a legato style.
Bitwig effects: Valhalla Reverb, Bitwig Ping Pong Delay, Bitwig Hexa Chorus
