HIKESHI 火消し — Firefighters of Edo (Heroic Boom Bap) | 浮世ビート | WAGAKU BEAT

"Ancient tales, reborn in modern beats. 火消し (Hikeshi) — the firemen of Edo. 'Fires and fights are the flowers of Edo,' they said of a city built in wood. With almost no water, they didn't put fires out — they tore houses down ahead of the flames to starve them. The standard-bearer climbed onto the roof with his matoi banner and refused to come down, marking the line the fire would not pass. Tattooed, sooty, and fiercely proud. WAGAKU BEAT reawakens them as gritty heroic boom bap — driving shamisen and taiko over hard dusty drums. 火消し、江戸の華。纏を立てて屋根の上。 🎧 EN/JP subtitles on.
