From the 11,000 La Mosca Lookout and Sub-Zero Ice Caves to a Late-Night Junkyard Campsite! Welcome back to Part 2 of our 3-part New Mexico overland adventure.We start the morning climbing high into the clouds to visit the breathtaking La Mosca Lookout Tower in the Cibola National Forest. After dropping back down into Grants, NM, to pressure wash tons of thick mud and clay off our battered rigs, we grab a killer lunch at the Junkyard Brewery.Next, we head deep into the backcountry to explore the incredible geology of the Bandera Volcano and its sub-zero Ice Caves. The trail of mud and water eats up our massive, 15,000 lb off-road ambulance hopelessly stuck on the trail—requiring a heavy-duty winching recovery to get them free.To wrap it all up, a late-night hunt for a campsite leaves us completely stranded in the dark. With options running out, we ended up scoring the most unexpected, legendary camping location of the entire trip—a Harvest Host right inside the junkyard brewery we at lunch at hours before!
