Darren Tea | Facets: Drum & Bass

Facets: Drum & Bass for Concert Band | 2026 Darren Tea (they/them) Facets: Drum & Bass is about searching for your identity. It blends drum & bass, a genre of electronic dance music (EDM), with rock grooves, and a traditional Irish hornpipe, Off to California. The drum kit drives the piece forward, knitting the different styles of music together. In this piece, we examine each part of ourselves: our histories, our emotions, our personality. We get vulnerable, reflect on memories, and then come back together, stronger than ever, having faced each facet of our identities. Darren Tea (2005) is a composer based in Austin, Texas. They are currently pursuing a degree in Arts and Entertainment Technologies, and a degree in Asian American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.
