I Wanted to Be a Dentist My Whole Life… Until THIS Happened

This video shares my full academic journey — from wanting to be a dentist as a kid, to discovering my passion for prevention through dental hygiene, to going back to school for a master’s in health communication, and now working toward my doctorate in health science. In the video, I talk about why I chose dental hygiene over dentistry, the non-traditional academic path I took, how grad school helped me grow in public speaking, social media, and writing, why I’m so passionate about combating dental misinformation online, and why it’s totally okay to change your mind and follow a different path. My mission is to promote prevention, improve access to care, and spread dental awareness. I really hope my story helps someone who’s figuring things out or thinking about their next steps in school or their career. You don’t have to have it all figured out at once!
