Got an old, torn family photo? Learn how to piece it back together, repair every blemish, and correct decades of color fading, all in Photoshop. Aaron separates a torn scan into individual pieces and realigns them using the Magic Wand and Move tool, then repairs blemishes and tears with the Spot Healing Brush, Clone Stamp, and Brush tools before removing an aged yellow color cast with a Selective Color adjustment layer. Select the white background with the Magic Wand tool, then go to Select, then Inverse to select the torn pieces 2. Duplicate the pieces onto a new layer (Cmd/Ctrl+J) 3. Lasso-select each piece individually, then Cut and Paste in Place (Shift+Cmd/Ctrl+V) to put it on its own layer 4. Use the Move tool to align each piece using lines and edges already in the photo as a guide 5. Use the Spot Healing Brush, with Content-Aware and Sample All Layers on, for simple blemishes with plenty of surrounding detail 6. Use the Clone Stamp tool, sampling with Alt/Option and checking Show Overlay in the Clone Source panel, for more detailed repairs 7.
