I was around 24 when I first heard @rehabmusic Southern Discomfort album and it immediately impressed me. The lyrics were hauntingly raw and communicated stories that were believable and relatable. Their blend of hip-hop and rock stood apart from the rest. It seemed natural and uncontrived and it oozed with an attitude and angst that I could identify with. I enjoyed dissecting their songs and tweaking the arrangements for acoustic guitar. When I started playing my own gigs several years later, no set was complete without at least one Rehab cover. Eventually, we crossed paths on the road up in Arkansas and forged a friendship. Some of my favorite memories were playing shows with them and hanging out afterward.
