In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman created on the instructions of Zeus. Her name means "the all-gifted" or "the all-giving", as according to Hesiod's "Works and Days" every god contributed to her creation by giving her unique gifts. The Pandora myth is a kind of "theodicy", answering the question of why a good God permits the manifestation of evil in this world. According to Greek mythology, Pandora opened a jar releasing all the evils of humanity; a jar broadly known today as "Pandora's Box". Hesiod's interpretation of Pandora's myth influenced heavily both Jewish and Christian theology, carrying her bad reputation even into the Renaissance. This is why so many poets, dramatists, painters, and sculptors made her the subject of their creations. Today, the idiom "Pandora's box" has grown to mean "any source of great and unexpected troubles". // Who is Lina?
