Maximum Speed is an arcade racing game developed by SIMS and published by Sammy for the Atomiswave system (NOTE: In some places, the title is identified as being by SIMS/Sammy, while others attribute publication to Sammy). The release date is uncertain, but it falls between late 2002 and early 2003 in Japan, the United States, and Europe. Maximum Speed is a single-player arcade racer with eight circuits and three vehicle categories: Stock Car, Open Wheel, and Pickup Truck. The objective is to complete the races within the time limit, competing against other drivers and aiming for better lap times. Trivia and Cultural Context Fan port: In November 2020, the Dreamcast preservation and modification community released a conversion of the Atomiswave version, associated with YZB and the technical work of megavolt85. The conversion adapts the software for the Dreamcast hardware, including control mapping, loading, and SRAM configuration; the community version also enabled the use of a standard Dreamcast controller. 0:00 - Start, cover and release date 0:28 - Stock Car - Breeze Hill Raceway 3:28 - Pickup Truck - Mirage Motor Stadium 6:29 - Openwheel - Totempoint Speedway 9:20 - Openwheel - Rodeo Peak Speedway #MaximumSpeed #Atomiswave #Dreamcast #Sammy #SIMS #Arcade #ArcadeRacing #RetroGaming #DreamcastHomebrew #AtomiswavePorts #Sega #VideoGamePreservation #JapaneseArcade #RetroGames #ClassicGaming
