Hiked from Addelstone to Staines-Upon-Thames, during April 2025, along the River Wey initially, and joined the Desborough Channel thereafter before joining the Thames Path after crossing the Walton bridge. The River Wey is a main tributary of the River Thames in south east England, and the Wey and Godalming Navigations were built in the 17th and 18th centuries, to create a navigable route from Godalming to the Thames. The Thames Path is a National Trail following the River Thames from one of its sources near Kemble in Gloucestershire to the Woolwich foot tunnel, south east London, and is about 185 miles long. The path was first proposed in 1948, but it only opened in 1996. Addlestone is a town in Surrey, England, and is located approximately 18 miles southwest of London. Staines-upon-Thames, also known simply as Staines, is a market town in northwest Surrey, England, around 17 miles west of central London.
