Sunder: Map07 - Hollow Icon Author(s): Insane_Gazebo UV-MAX DOOMED Index Tier: Recruit https://doomedindex.com/ind_pages/su07 PWAD: sunder.wad https://dsdarchive.com/wads/sunder Source Port: DSDA-Doom 0.29.4 Get it here: https://github.com/kraflab/dsda-doom Time: 26:54 Tough map. Ammo and health are in pretty short supply here considering how many monsters there are. I found it important to pick up specific ammo in each of the big arenas before starting the fights because they'd be off limits until you kill everything or nearly everything. Spent a lot of time running around looking for leftover ammo or health and also straight up forgot which way to go a couple times... Not a great demo but I'm happy I got the exit. Not too much to say about the early fights. After a stupid facerocket and then an 80 damage rev missile I figured the run was dead but of course it's the one that gets the exit. I'll talk through my gameplans for the three big fights For the first one, the beginning is pretty obvious. Herd the hell nobles away from the BFG and make sure you don't go too fast or you might not have a path behind them to escape through. You can grab the BFG and then leave from the same side but I found that the viles would have a decent chance of zapping you on the way out. Pulling the goats away from the wall so you can sneak behind them fixed that issue. I also keep checking that little tunnel in the back because on one run a cyber basically sprinted through there and shot me in the side of the head with a rocket. For the rest of the fight, look for opportunities to pick off the viles and I hang out where the BFG was to pull a cyber (two here, lucky) over to infight with the goats. If you play this fight right you should have well over 100 health and armor going into the next fight... I took a stupid rocket to the face because the stairs messed with my movement. You can actually cheese that whole fight by going to the blue key room and letting everything stack up outside and infight. For the next fight, if you have enough health and armor you can save the mega. I had to grab it on this run. The strat I have for this fight was pretty consistent. Sometimes it was really dangerous when you have to cross back through the imps and mancs and I took way too much damage right at the start, but it was pretty smooth besides that. Ideally you also leave this fight with enough health and armor to save the next megasphere... I don't know what to even say about the final fight. I could not find a repeatable strat/route that felt good or was consistent. I tried killing those three cybers after teleporting and I tried leaving them alive. I tried pushing through the pain elementals early but getting out of there without getting trapped was not consistent. I basically had it planned out up until I killed the three cybers and then it was all improv. I never saw the pain elementals and lost souls get this bad during practice and I think it's because my BFG efficiency was just awful. So many wasted shots. The ammo and health is surprisingly limited here and I was just asking for a face rocket off a lost soul during the clean up. I have no idea how to route this one better but I'm sure there's a much better way to do it. Other demos I watched all seemed to mostly improvise or were kinda risky. I'm okay with the slow finish.
