This walking tour takes you through the streets of the historic center of Kutna Hora, a stunningly beautiful city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The sun came out for the first time in the last ten days, which allowed me to take beautiful shots for you!
Saint Barbara's Church (Santa Barbara) is a Roman Catholic church in Kutná Hora (Bohemia) in a cathedral and is sometimes referred to as the Cathedral of St Barbara. It is one of the most famous Gothic churches in central Europe, and it is a UNESCO world heritage site. St Barbara is the patron saint of miners (among others), which was highly appropriate for a town whose wealth was based entirely upon its silver mines. Construction began in 1388.
Kutná Hora is a town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 21,000 inhabitants. The earliest traces of silver have been found dating back to the 10th century when Bohemia already had been in the crossroads of long-distance trade for many centuries. Silver dinars were discovered between 982 and 995 in settlement of Malín, which is now a part of Kutná Hora.
