life on a scottish island | cosy first mountain hike and finding baby birds

I've lived on the Isle of Rum for almost two years now and would you believe I've never actually been up one of our mountains? This week, I joined staff from NatureScot up Hallival to check in on the island's population of Manx Shearwaters - and we were specifically checking for babies!! NOTE: Please don't disturb wild animals if you are hillwalking. I was with licensed, trained staff carrying out necessary annual checks - do not attempt this if you are climbing for leisure.
