Double Granular Experiment | MicroFreak, Norns (Graintopia), TextureLab

I recorded this performance during an experiment with layering granular textures: routing a sound from the MicroFreak into the Norns script "Graintopia," and then feeding that output into TextureLab for a second layer of granular processing. What started as a simple phrase gradually evolved into a majestic soundscape. Granular processing easily spins out of control on its own, so I was curious to see what would happen when stacking two of them together. Unsurprisingly, it was almost completely beyond my control—but it resulted in something surprisingly grand and majestic. While I frequently use the MicroFreak in personal recordings that haven't been uploaded to YouTube, this is the first time I've captured it on video. #microfreak #norns #texturelab #arturia #sonicware #monome
