We packed up the wagon and took the whānau into Okui Hut in Whirinaki, one of the last ancient rainforests in Aotearoa. River crossings in the 4WD, a night at the hut, and an eel caught and cooked on the fire for dinner. No signal, no rush, just good people and good kai.
