BEAR ENCOUNTER in GRAND MESA National Forest COLORADO | Cobbett Lake

Grand Mesa National Forest in Colorado is home to three million acres of amazing wilderness and wildlife. On a recent visit to Grand Mesa, we had a chance encounter with four beautiful bears at Cobbett Lake near the Visitor Center. For approximately 20 minutes, we were able to safely watch a mama bear and her three cubs as she guided them around Cobbett Lake looking for fish. Grand Mesa National Forest is home to the world’s largest flattop mountain. Grand Mesa is an 11,000-foot flattop mountain with over three hundred lakes with excellent fishing and boating. There are numerous hiking trails and campgrounds throughout Grand Mesa National Forest.
