A spontaneous trip to the Algarve, Portugal 🇵🇹✈️ — and what an incredible surprise!

Sometimes the best adventures are the ones you don't plan! ❤️ At around 10 PM one evening, we randomly decided we needed a little getaway. No weeks of planning, no complicated itinerary — just a spontaneous decision to escape somewhere beautiful. And our choice? The Algarve, on Portugal's stunning southern coast! 🌊☀️ Our adventure started with a flight delay of just over an hour due to fog, but thankfully we made it! After landing, we picked up our rental car and drove around 50 minutes to our hotel, RR Hotel da Rocha, in Portimão. Little did we know we'd accidentally chosen one of the Algarve's most popular holiday destinations! 😍 Since everything was booked so last-minute, it was an amazing surprise. The hotel, its location and especially the spectacular views completely exceeded our expectations. Definitely somewhere we'd happily recommend! 🏨💙 After settling in, we couldn't wait to start exploring. Our first stop was Miradouro dos Três Castelos (Viewpoint of the Three Castles), one of the most beautiful coastal viewpoints in Portimão. Famous for its dramatic golden limestone cliffs, fascinating rock formations and turquoise Atlantic waters, this place looks like something straight out of a postcard. 🌅 We also explored the famous Camel Rock, an unusual natural rock formation that resembles a camel. 🐪 The coastline here is absolutely spectacular, with incredible shapes carved into the cliffs by the sea over thousands of years. And there was so much more to discover! We spotted loads of tiny crabs hiding inside little holes and crevices in the rocks. 🦀 Watching them was surprisingly entertaining, and we had so much fun exploring this beautiful stretch of coastline. After all that exploring, it was finally time to find somewhere to eat. 🍽️ Without any reservations or recommendations, we simply wandered along the beach and stumbled upon A Casa da Rocha, a restaurant with absolutely breathtaking ocean views. Sometimes those unexpected finds turn out to be the best! The food was lovely overall, although the fish was slightly overfried for our taste. But the atmosphere, spectacular views and especially the delicious house wine made it a really enjoyable experience. 🍷🌊 With our energy restored, we continued exploring the beautiful beachfront, enjoying the golden cliffs, fresh ocean air and relaxed Algarve atmosphere. Of course, no holiday is complete without something sweet! 🍦😋 We finished our evening with a visit to Le Dolce Vita, an award-winning gelato spot serving absolutely delicious ice cream. Definitely a must-try for gelato lovers visiting Portimão! And because we'd enjoyed plenty of good food and gelato, we decided to burn off a few calories with a long evening walk along the beach. 🌙✨ The sound of the waves, beautiful coastline and peaceful nighttime atmosphere made it the perfect ending to our first day in the Algarve.
