Government is preparing to introduce the TANA Metro Bus Service as a pilot project aimed at improving public transport and promoting e-mobility in Greater Gaborone. The initial phase will involve ten buses operating along two routes: Metsimotlhabe to Tlokweng and Phakalane to Game City. Beyond easing commuter movement, the initiative seeks to introduce a more coordinated, reliable and inclusive public transport system, with existing players in the transport industry expected to participate as stakeholders. In this discussion, we unpack how the pilot will operate, what it means for daily commuters and existing transport operators, and whether the proposed system can address some of the longstanding challenges in public transportation.
Guest: Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Keoagile Atamelang
