In this Bible Study, we enter a significant turning point in Paul's letter to the Ephesians. Having spent the first three chapters explaining what God has accomplished for us in Christ, Paul now turns our attention to how we ought to live in response to His grace.
Under the theme “Walk Worthy of Your Calling,” we examine Ephesians 4:1–3, exploring the relationship between Christian identity and Christian conduct.
What does it mean to walk worthy of our calling? Why does Paul begin with humility, gentleness, patience and love? And if Christ has already united His people, why must believers endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit?
Through careful biblical exposition and practical application, we discover that:
Our obedience does not earn God's grace; it flows from grace already received.
Walking worthy means living consistently with our calling in Christ.
Humility, gentleness, patience and loving forbearance are essential to Christian community.
Christian unity is not something we manufacture, but something we are called to preserve.
Genuine unity is grounded in Christ's reconciling work, not merely outward agreement.
A central truth from this study:
“Our walk does not purchase our calling. Our walk should reflect our calling.”
As we reflect on this teaching, may we examine not only what we believe about Christ, but also how we treat those who belong to Him
