Excel Dryer XLERATOReco @ Near Gate 11 (♿), Heathrow Airport Terminal 4, Greater London

Here we have one of the many brushless xlerators spread out across heathrow's 4 terminals. This is my first video to be filmed with my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, this phone has a number of features that my S9 lacked, including a 10x zoom, a 3x zoom, an ultrawide, and most annoyingly, what samsung calls the "laser autofocus". The "laser autofocus" is essentially an IR sensor, similar to what's used in hand dryers. The IR emitted from the mobile phone is sometimes picked up by the sensor on the hand dryer causing the dryer to turn on. The British Airports Authority was one of the first UK customers of XLERATOR hand dryers, installing them in all of their airports sometime around 2006. Over the years, the BAA sold off all of their airports to other companies, these include Gatwick and Edinburgh, which were both sold to Global Infrastructure Partners in 2009 and 2012 respectively. GIP installed SMARTdris within 2 years of aqusition of both. Manchester Airport Group took over Stanstead in 2013, however they continue to install XLERATORS. The BAA would eventually rebrand to Heathrow Airport Holdings, and continue to use XLERATORS, except these aren't your usual ones. The xlerators installed in the 2000s were your standard relay based brushed Xlerators, and the ones installed in stanstead are your standard electronic based modern brushed xlerators, however the ones at Heathrow airport appear to be a unique variant with a brushless motor that's seemingly exclusive to Heathrow. Brushless motors are in theory far more reliable than brushed motors, since you don't have to replace any brushes, however, if the electronics fail then the entire motor needs replacing unless you are willing to desolder SMD components.
