Salt at Dusk is the debut release by Luxembourg-based artist Enkel Peer and the first glimpse into the sonic world of Ars Natura.
Ars Natura is an audiovisual music project built around a simple idea: what if electronic music could grow from the sounds that already surround us?
Instead of treating nature merely as inspiration or decoration, Enkel Peer works with field recordings, animal voices, natural soundscapes, human voice, organic textures and recorded physical sound sources, transforming them through sampling, sound design and analog audio processing into rhythms, melodies, atmospheres and electronic compositions.
Salt at Dusk introduces this approach through a sound world somewhere between organic melodic techno, atmospheric electronica, experimental electronic music and cinematic sound design. Natural recordings and electronic production are not separated into foreground and background. They become part of the same musical ecosystem.
Behind Enkel Peer is Ben Feinen, a Luxembourg-based musician, sound engineer and nature sound collector. His fascination with sound began long before Ars Natura: recording, producing and listening closely to the sonic details hidden in places, materials and living environments.
With Ars Natura, that fascination developed into a larger artistic project combining electronic music, field recording, analog audio technology, craftsmanship, visual performance and nature conservation.
At the centre of the live project stands the handmade Ars Natura Desk, a large modular sound laboratory built from wood and filled with analog and vintage audio equipment, mixers, processors, natural materials, collected objects and visual elements. The desk is being constructed in the former carpentry workshop of Ben’s grandfather and has become part instrument, part stage installation and part laboratory.
The project deliberately brings together different worlds: old audio technology and contemporary electronic production, craftsmanship and digital sound design, natural environments and the concert stage.
Ars Natura also explores the idea that music can encourage people to listen differently to the world around them. A bird call, water, wind, an animal voice, a branch, a human breath or an overlooked sound in the environment can contain rhythm, pitch, texture and movement. Once recorded and transformed, these sounds can become the raw material of electronic music without losing the story of where they came from.
This connection to the natural world goes beyond aesthetics. Ars Natura is designed to grow alongside habitat conservation and biodiversity projects, with part of the long-term vision being to use the artistic project to support and document concrete conservation initiatives.
Salt at Dusk marks the beginning of that journey.
More music, audiovisual performances, nature recordings, studio experiments and behind-the-scenes material from Ars Natura will follow.
