Before I Start Screaming – an original song inspired by the improvised play The Screams of the Damned, performed by Shoot From The Hip. This story gave me so many directions I could take — and it took me a long time to finally decide what I wanted to portray most from the play. What I chose is the perspective of a soul sent to hell — a man accused of murders he didn’t commit. He must navigate this twisted underworld and find a way out. John David hears the screams of the damned souls around every corner. It sends chills down his spine. Unease floods his body. And desperation pours out through his own screams. There’s no easy way to fight something you can’t control. Thankfully, John David has two incredible children who are able to reach him — and, in the end, bring him back. This experience could change his life in more ways than one. Maybe one day, we’ll see how.
