Today was a beautiful and peaceful day in the Sri Lankan countryside. 🌿🇱🇰 We spent the day together in our village, surrounded by paddy fields, nature and the simple beauty of rural life. Early in the morning, I made a delicious Veralu (Ceylon Olive) pickle — a traditional Sri Lankan village favourite. Veralu is not only delicious but also a nutritious fruit. My husband, however, isn’t a big fan of pickle! 😄 For lunch, I made something a little different from our usual lentil curry. I added fresh Kura leaves to the dhal, and the result was incredibly delicious. ❤️ While we were cooking, my father and uncle were busy cutting firewood near the field. Life here is simple, but every little moment has its own beauty. The water level of the Kumbukkan Oya River is still very low, which is making life difficult for farmers and many innocent families in our village. Water is such an important part of rural life, especially for farming.
