10 Unique and FUN Izzet Commanders: EDH Deckbuilding

In this video, I'm breaking down some of the most unique Izzet EDH decks I've built, ranging from bizarre casual strategies and budget Voltron to Attractions, artifact destruction, self-damage, wheels, subgames, and even cEDH! 🔴🔵 Izzet in Commander Blue and Red are naturally one of the best color combinations for spellslinger decks, combining Blue's card draw and interaction with Red's explosive damage and fast mana. But Izzet can do WAY more than just cast a bunch of instants and sorceries. These decks explore some of the strangest strategies you can build in Blue/Red Commander. ⏱️ DECKS & TIMESTAMPS 0:00 – Intro 2:25 – Flood of Innistrad Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist & Kraum, Ludevic's Opus A Stitch-themed Commander deck built around Flood of Mars. The goal is simple: flood the battlefield by turning more and more creatures into copies of Flood of Mars until the board is completely overrun. Myra lets us combine Attractions with cheap, fast spells to build an explosive storm turn and try to win the game. 18:21 – Iron Man Snaps Iron Man, Titan of Innovation What happens when Iron Man gets his hands on Worldslayer? This deck leans heavily into indestructible permanents, allowing us to destroy practically everything while our own board survives the devastation. Using cards like Liquimetal Torque and other artifact-conversion effects, we turn opposing permanents into artifacts before stealing or destroying them. Nin turns damage into card advantage, letting us blast our creatures to draw massive numbers of cards. Brash Taunter is one of my favorite targets, redirecting that damage straight into an opponent. 31:19 – Dragon's Target Secret Commander: Voracious Bibliophile This unusual Izzet deck is secretly built around Voracious Bibliophile, rewarding us for repeatedly targeting creatures by drawing cards. The deck also sneaks in a Dragon subtheme to give the strategy another way to take over the game. 35:04 – Sphinx's Riddle Arjun, the Shifting Flame Every spell completely replaces our hand. Arjun's ability lets us wheel through huge portions of our library, especially when combined with draw-doubling effects. From there, Laboratory Maniac can turn drawing our entire deck into a victory, while Sphinx's Tutelage and Psychosis Crawler give us alternative ways to punish opponents for all those cards we're drawing. 38:34 – Itazura, Be Our Guest Itazura, Lingering Wick One of the new commanders from Mystery Booster Commander! This bizarre deck revolves around playing MTG subgames and giving our opponents creatures that we can easily steal back later. 42:00 – Need for Speed A fast, aggressive Izzet Voltron deck that can be built on a budget around an uncommon commander. Instead of slowly setting up a traditional Izzet engine, we're using Giant Growth-style effects and other temporary buffs to hit incredibly hard and try to end the game FAST.
