Fixing Ferrari's Infamous Sticky Buttons on a 2013 458 Spider

Check out more videos here:    • The World of Ferrari   This 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider is a perfect example of how Ferrari’s soft-touch interior finishes can deteriorate over time. Some pieces are extremely sticky, others are peeling, and some have already been stripped down to the bare plastic. The result is an interior that looks and feels far below the standard you would expect from a Ferrari. To properly address the problem, we have to remove a huge portion of the 458’s interior. The dash comes apart piece by piece, including the glove box, climate controls, instrument cluster, steering wheel controls, carbon-fiber trim, vent pods, center console, dome light, rearview mirror, and much more. I’ll walk you through the disassembly process, show you some of the tricks and lessons I’ve learned working on these interiors over the years, and explain why documenting the location of every screw, washer, spacer, and clip is so important when putting a Ferrari dash back together. Once everything is removed and broken down, the parts are sent to‪@stickyrxrefinishingsolutions‬ for refinishing. The team at Sticky RX was kind enough to document their process specifically for this video, so you’ll get an inside look at how they completely strip the old coating, prep the plastic, apply their new finish, and laser-etch the factory graphics back onto the components. The result is a dramatic transformation. The new finish has the look and feel of the original Ferrari interior without the sticky coating that eventually breaks down. Every switch, button, vent, and control is then reassembled and function-tested before the interior goes back together. This particular 458 also received extensive leather repairs and additional interior work, making the finished result even more dramatic.
