Professor Yacob Mulugetta (University College London) delivered a keynote at this year's ACCESS Assembly, entitled: Who Knows the Energy Transition? State of Social Science in Africa & The Case for a Transdisciplinary Agenda The session was chaired by ACCESS Director, Prof. Patrick Devine-Wright (University of Exeter). Advancing Capacity for Climate Environment Social Science (ACCESS) is a 5 year project (2022-2027) funded by the Economic Social Research Council (ESRC) www.accessnetwork.uk The Annual Assembly is a key event in the ACCESS calendar. It has three primary aims: 1. To encourage new thinking about the contribution of the social sciences to tackle environmental problems 2. To increase connections and network building across boundaries (e.g. career stage, discipline, sector) 3. To embed the ACCESS Guiding Principles, in terms of ensuring the event integrates Knowledge Co-Production, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and Environmental Sustainability This year’s Assembly was held 17-18 June 2026 at the University of Exeter. It was our fifth and last Assembly as the ACCESS project comes to a close in January 2027.
