Brought to you by Boost in collaboration with North Cumbria Knowledge and Library Service, this LUNCH & LEARN session on 30 June 2026 saw James Crosbie (GP, Gastroenterologist, Clinical Lead for Alcohol Harm Prevention) deliver a presentation on 'Introducing the Alcohol Toolkit for Primary Care'.
This session explored the newly launched Alcohol Toolkit for Primary Care - a practical, evidence-based resource designed to help primary care teams confidently identify and respond to alcohol-related harm.
Primary care teams are well placed to have meaningful conversations about alcohol, and this toolkit supports a consistent, effective approach aligned with national guidance.
In this session, we introduced the toolkit and demonstrated how it can support everyday practice - from screening and assessment through to delivering brief advice and connecting patients to support. We also highlighted key resources available, including:
Best practice guidance
Patient information
Links to local support services
Reducing stigma for our patients
Staff support offer
Using the RAIDR primary care dashboard to identify at risk patients
The Boost alcohol learning academy and virtual patient
Up to date guidance from leading health organisations
All are designed to build confidence, reduce stigma, and support timely, supportive conversations. Take a look to discover how you can start using the toolkit in your setting.
