Belle Isle Trace | Grenada & Carriacou | Roots Folk

High in the hillside traces of Grenada and across the waters of Carriacou, a long courtship finds its celebration. Drawing inspiration from the deep-rooted Big Drum traditions of the Windward Islands, this piece centers on the warmth of enduring commitment—a relationship built slowly like aged cedar, rooted in shared childhood memories and communal blessing. The arrangement carries an unhurried, celebratory pulse driven by skin-covered drums, interlocking woodstick rhythms, and the steady ring of an iron hoe blade. Intimate, conversational lead vocals are answered by an understated village chorus, capturing the joy of a wedding feast without unnecessary theatrical polish.
