𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐍𝐃: Park Rangers and Crews Remove Encampments from Venice Beach

VENICE BEACH – Friday, March 21, 2025 – A multi-agency cleanup operation was conducted Friday morning along Venice Beach in response to ongoing concerns about public safety and sanitation. The operation focused on areas of the beach frequently occupied by unhoused individuals seeking shelter. Officials aimed to restore hygiene, ensure public access, and reduce environmental and health hazards in one of Los Angeles’ most visited coastal areas. Agencies involved included the Los Angeles Park Rangers, Los Angeles Police Department, Public Works, County Beaches and Harbors, and environmental specialists from Clean Harbors Environmental Inc. Individuals camping on the beach were asked to vacate the area as sanitation crews in protective gear removed hazardous and non-hazardous waste. The effort was carried out in accordance with Los Angeles Municipal Code 63.44(b), which prohibits camping in public parks and beach spaces. Throughout the operation, Park Rangers maintained order and monitored compliance with city regulations. No major incidents were reported. Support services were also present. Outreach teams from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) provided food, water, and hygiene kits to those affected by the cleanup. A representative from Councilwoman Traci Parks' office was on site, emphasizing the city's commitment to balancing enforcement with compassionate care. City officials underscored the importance of continued coordination between agencies to maintain the beach's cleanliness and accessibility, while working to connect unhoused individuals with housing and social services.
