Washington is 2-0. That’s about where the comfort ends. After surviving Utah State 16-14, Noah and I go back through an offense that still doesn’t have an identity, why Demond Williams continues to be asked to create too much, and whether the biggest issue is execution, the offensive line or something deeper. The defense continues to look like the side of this team we can trust — and now Eastern Washington is UW’s last real opportunity to get the offense on schedule before Minnesota and Big Ten play arrive.
In this episode, we cover:
• Why we’re done grading this Washington offense on potential
• What UW’s offensive identity actually is through two games
• Why relying on Demond Williams to create off schedule cannot be the answer in the Big Ten
• The offensive line and why it’s our biggest concern right now
• Washington’s inability to establish the traditional run game
• Demond’s accuracy, ball placement and lack of explosive completions downfield
• Brian Bonner, Trey Cooley and what UW needs from the running back room
• Desmond Roebuck’s drops and the search for a reliable WR2
• Chris Lawson, Jordan Clay and Trez Davis getting larger opportunities
• Whether Jedd Fisch’s play calling deserves the criticism it received after Utah State
• Alex McLaughlin and a Washington defense that continues to carry the load
• Why the Utah State tape looks more like an execution problem than a coaching problem
• Nate Bell and what Eastern Washington does offensively
• The five offensive benchmarks we’re demanding from UW against EWU
• What Demond, the offensive line and the run game need to show before Minnesota
• Rapid-fire predictions and our final Eastern Washington scores
