Dua e Joshan Kabir | دعاء الجوشن الكبير | Dua Jawshan al-Kabir | Jawshan Kabir Dua | Ramadan & Shab e Qadr Listen to the beautiful Dua Jawshan al-Kabir, a profound supplication containing 100 sections and 1,000 Divine Names of Allah (swt). This powerful dua is especially associated with Ramadan, Laylat al-Qadr, forgiveness, mercy, protection and seeking closeness to Allah. According to the narration mentioned in Balad al-Amin and Misbah al-Kafa‘mi, Imam Zayn al-Abidin (a.s.) narrates from his father, from his grandfather, the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.w.), that Angel Jibra’il (a.s.) brought this supplication to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.w.) during a battle. The Prophet (s.a.w.w.) was wearing a heavy coat of armour that was causing him discomfort, and Jibra’il (a.s.) conveyed Allah’s greeting and taught him this dua as a means of protection for him and his Ummah. 🤍 Virtues & Benefits of Dua Jawshan al-Kabir The transmitted narration mentions great virtues and rewards for this supplication, including: • It is described as a means of protection and safety for the Prophet (s.a.w.w.) and his Ummah. • Writing it on the kafan (shroud) is mentioned as a means through which Allah’s mercy is sought. • Reciting it on the first night of Ramadan with sincere intention is associated with the opportunity to witness Laylat al-Qadr and the creation of 70,000 angels who glorify and sanctify Allah, with their reward granted to the reciter. • Reciting it three times during Ramadan is mentioned with immense rewards, including protection from the Fire and entry into Paradise. • It is a supplication of remembrance, praise and recognition of Allah through His beautiful Names. • The narration states that among its 1,000 Divine Names is the Greatest Name of Allah (Ism al-A‘zam).
