Do I Need an llms.txt File? What the Research Says

The llms.txt file is being pitched everywhere as the way to get ChatGPT and other AI tools to find and cite your business. We looked at what two large studies and Google itself have to say about it. A Search Atlas study of nearly 14,000 websites found the file made no measurable difference in how often a site showed up in AI answers. Google Search says you don’t need it for AI Overviews or AI Mode. And then PageSpeed Insights started checking for it anyway, which is... very on brand for Google. We cover what the file is, why that new PageSpeed Insights check is showing up, and where your time is better spent. Hosted by Patrice Valentine, ProFusion Web Solutions.
