1982 Honda GL1100 Timing Belts Replacement

In this video we will see the timing belts being changed and the importance of all timing marks being spot on. The GL1100 Flat Four is an “interference” motor. That means if the belts aren’t installed with all timing marks perfectly aligned, a valve will contact a piston rendering your beautiful old motorcycle a useless piece of garbage. I did this once. Keep an eye out for my Bent Valve Award from 2001 from my dear friend Davey Wavey. (RIP) All four of the Pulley bolts rounded off when being loosened. I used a hammer and chisel. It wasn’t pretty. I didn’t include it because watching it would give me nightmares. Maybe I’ll make it a short someday. lol I started it after, despite a probable sticky slide. The throttle wouldn’t roll on all the way. But it sounded great. Very quiet. With no leaks. But I’m gonna rebuild the Carbs and do an ultrasonic cleaning. Didn’t see that coming.
