Earnest C. Watson Lecture by Professor Omer Tamuz, "The Long Run Behavior of Random Walks." Random walks have been studied for more than a hundred years as important models in physics, computer science, finance, and economics - and as interesting mathematical objects in their own right. In this talk, Caltech mathemetician Omer Tamuz, this year's Biedebach Memorial Lecturer, will describe some classical results from random walk research and a surprising connection to economics. Omer Tamuz is Assistant Professor of Economics and Mathematics at Caltech in the Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
