BASQUE STEAK | Nevada | 50 States, 50 Plates (Ep.27)

This week we chose Nevada and there wasn't a cut and dry answer to which dish we should make, but we LOVE the one we chose! MANDY'S SWEET AND SMOKY BEANS: 3 slices bacon, chopped 1/2 med. onion, diced 2 tsp garlic, minced 1 (15 oz) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed 1 (15 oz) can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed 1 cup BBQ sauce (I used Kinders Honey Hot) 1 tsp liquid smoke 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp smoked paprika .5-1 Tbsp brown sugar .5 tsp black pepper (can add chicken broth if you want to thin it out) Cook bacon in medium pot over med heat until crispy. Remove bacon and all but about a Tbsp of grease. Add onions to the pot in the grease and soften for about 2 minutes, then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds more. Then add all the other ingredients (including the crispy bacon), lower heat to med-low and cover and allow to simmer for 20-30 minutes.
