Leaving Bengaluru traffic behind! In this episode of MR Safarnamaa, I am tackling the massive 1,000+ KM return leg back to Mumbai in a single, non-stop solo night drive.
To escape the notorious city gridlock, I tested out the newly opened operational sections of the Bengaluru STRR (Satellite Town Ring Road). This access-controlled highway acts as a massive bypass, seamlessly diverting traffic away from the city core to connect directly with the NH-4 Mumbai link. With a 100 kmph design speed and multiple lanes, the Dobbaspet-Hoskote stretch is an absolute game-changer for long-haul road trippers looking to exit the city fast.
But highway night runs are unpredictable. Mid-drive, I had a terrifying close call when a stray dog ran directly onto the pitch-black tarmac. It was a massive test of the Scorpio N's braking dynamics and my own reflexes. Thankfully, the heavy SUV stopped exactly in time, and the dog walked away completely unharmed.
The physical toll of endurance driving hit its peak around 3:00 AM when I hit a hard circadian rhythm crash—that dangerous window where the body naturally demands sleep. Just as the fatigue peaked, a thick blanket of fog rolled in. Watch how the Aozoom W7 lighting setup cut through the mist and how I managed the exhaustion to safely push through to the Maharashtra border by sunrise.
